Mathew Street Personal safety

Liverpool is one of the most vibrant and safest cities in the world, but as in any large, busy city, crime can sometimes occur. To make your visit safer and more enjoyable:

  • Secure your vehicle and don’t leave anything on display.
  • If you have a sat nav system, take it with you and remove any visible marks on your windscreen. Place the holder and wiring in the boot.
  • Put any belongings you can’t take with you in the boot before you arrive at your destination.
  • Keep an eye on your wallet, bag or mobile.
  • Avoid texting and talking on your mobile in crowded areas.
  • Don’t leave your bags unattended. Report any suspicious bags or activity to the police or security.

Mathew Street Drinking

  • Please drink sensibly and do not bring glass into the festival area.
  • Use plastic bottles and dispose of them in the recycling bins provided.
  • Alcohol can be consumed within the Festival Site between 11am and 6pm.
  • Outdoor bars will be located in the following areas: Tithebarn Street, St Johns Gardens, Dale Street, Castle Street.
  • When leaving the festival licensed area of the city and after 6pm on the event days, alcohol may not be consumed on the streets – with fines of up to £500 for breaching these laws.
  • Alcohol may only be consumed in and around the stage areas. Under no circumstances can alcohol be consumed in the shopping areas of the city. Failure to adhere to this will lead to confiscation of alcohol and a fine of up to £500.
  • A challenge 21 policy will be in place, so please ensure that if you are lucky enough to look under 21, you have ID available to purchase or consume alcohol at the festival.

There will be a number of bins provided which will regularly be emptied. Please remember that we will be expecting a lot of visitors. To ensure that our city remains as clean and litter free as possible we request that you use the bins provided and please recycle.
